  • It happens sometimes in our lives when we start evaluate if our present careers are the right ones for us. It could be an epiphany gained through a job disappointment such as money or being turned down for a promotion or it could just be a milestone that comes about in our lives, that requires us to reconsider our career path. Whatever it is that makes us analyze our careers, it’s now time to consider a career change. Here are the most important questions you can ask yourself when considering whether or not a new career change may be best for you.

    1. The right time? Is it the right time for you to make take this leap? For example, if you are thinking of another career, does it require training? If so, do you have the money to do so right now? Consider all major aspects of your life-such as family, finances, and responsibilities-when deciding if it is the right time for a career change.

    2. Is it for the right reasons? Make sure that it is for the right reasons that you are seeking a new career. For example, is it because you didn’t get the promotion you wanted, or because you just don’t feel fulfilled in your industry. If it is the former, consider getting another job, not another career. Moreover, if it is the latter, it could be time to change careers.

    3. What will this new career take? Have you taken in the full scope of what a new career may take. Surely, you have ideas in what industries and positions you may work; but do you know everything being successful in this field takes? Make sure you do ample research on all aspects of your intended career to make sure its something you are willing to take on.
