  • Students are finally appreciating the worth of their education and choosing wisely which college, university or courses they will pick. When the economy started inching downhill two years ago, money tightened up and not every family was in a position to send their off-spring to the pretigious college of their choice.

There are plenty of fine, state funded colleges and universities which are in top contention for your academic attention. Many fine alumni are proud of their campuses and submit money in the form of endowments either in their name or anonymously. Not too long ago a top university received several millions to be siphoned off to other campuses within the state, on one condition only: not to identify who he / she was.

See the reports "Mystery donor keeps giving to woman-run colleges", and "MSU's $10 million gift a mystery"

The donor had to stay anonymous and if there was any attempt made by the officials to find out the name of the donor, the money would be revoked. What a deal! Stay quiet, and the money is yours.
We can all guess who would have any such money left after the stock market fiasco but that is too hard.

Personally, any money or any endowment to any university is appreciated and should be just as enthusiastically received as the monies above. State universities can serve as the major employers of their area and the tertiary benefits in the business sector are just as much as what  the major car manufacturers generate.

And they are not claiming bankruptcy!
