  • Everyone is making donations these days to their favorite universities or colleges. If you have any spare change and want a wing or a center named after yourself just donate a million or so dollars. You can make an anonymous donation and remain obscure or you can make a name for yourself in how generous you are!

The University of Illinois recently received a much appreciated one million dollar donation from Roger Ebert and his wife. The money is to go toward helping students in film studies at his aluma.
Illinois did not have film studies when he attended but he did receive a solid education and he has shown his love of the institution.

The money will go into the Roger Ebert Program for Film Studies Fund and when the fund reaches 5 million dollars the Roger Ebert Center for Film Studies will be built. What a fine monument to this man it will be. Film students will have a great place to study and to train.

If every celebrity who has attended university or has been given an honorary degree would do the same or better then maybe the universities would not be so sadly lacking in funds. Celebrities and journalists and authors have had some benefit from the public's money and this would be a great way to pay back or pay forward.
