  •  In times of recession any kind of cash is welcome. The economy slowdown or rather the halt has affected the colleges and universities in a big way. Some students are no being admitted due to lack of funds or rather not being able to pay the entire fee amount.

Dorms will not have the same facilities like they used to have earlier. Free channels like HBO and ESPN will be charged now on the campus. Professors are giving up their personal landline phones, trash is being taken out twice a week instead of daily. Phew! Many changes like these are coming up. So how do the colleges make a quick buck?

Simple, rent the colleges and university campuses for shoots. Under regular circumstances the colleges, the summers would be a time when there would hardly be any student on the campus. It would be calmly serene. But things are a bit different now. For example at the Richard Stockton College in New Jersey, the college advertises heavily in media and then offers 20 percent off on tuition fees for summer courses. With this, the college also reeled in new summer camps and a general interest day camp. They also have a wrestling camp which will be able to par for its facilities.

Everyone is looking for new avenues to make more money. There is a huge competition out there to do so. hence the season of summer is important now. There is more to this. While offering such camps, many aspiring students come with their parents to have a look at the campus and then when they take a month long course at the college, they will remember its lovely campus. Therefore, they might come back for more.

Some universities have taken the economic slowdown in their stride and working towards it. they are arranging day camps like resume writing and interviewing skills. An example is the Hofstra University in Long Island. They are also sending their coaches to the high schools with brochures of the sports camps being organized at their universities. Discounts are being offered if the students register early for the camps. This method is good and it is working apparently! The enrollment number for such camps has gone up by 20 percent.

Another method to make some good money is to loan your college campus for a shoot just like the Ivory tower at Monmouth is doing. Parts of the university campus were leased out for the shoot of a bridal wear catalogue photo shoot and the local hospital for an annual carnival and a father son basket ball clinic. Many colleges are coming up with such methods. Some are having coaching for cheerleading, yearbooks etc. there are other training and boot camps being held too.

So I think these methods are good. They work and the money keeps flowing in. life can breath a sigh of relief maybe. So we must learn something from these people really, and make most of the money we have now. Recession is temporary but it is going to take a while to be fine.
