  • There is a lot of difference between the schedule and activities of different universities in America. However, as you analyze the life of an undergraduate student in the colleges, you find a lot of similarities that are consistent and similar. Health centres and cafeteria, for example are a part of all universities. There are a few similarities in the behavior of students and faculty too. Most of them are friendly, approachable and well informed. There are similarities in the layout too such as positioning of parking lots and communal grounds. With effective planning, it is possible for students, especially for international students to manage their time.

Time taken for you to reach your class in the morning depends on the location of your housing. As an International student, it is important to consider your housing options with care before making a decision. For example, residence halls and dorms may be more expensive than private rentals further away. However, they are the most convenient options and often provide immense benefits and value for the extra money you spend. For instance, dorms are usually within walking distance from the college eliminating the necessity for spending on commuting every day. By staying at the residence halls and dorms, you also have an opportunity to meet a lot of people every day. As most of them include meals, you can have your breakfast on your way to class to get your day started.

If you are not the type who can wake up early, there is nothing to worry. Most of the universities and colleges offer a range of courses and you can create your own schedule depending on the days and time. You can choose your own convenient slots of time. Between classes, ensure you spend a lot of time with friends and meeting people. You can relax even as you socialize with other students. One of the best methods of adjusting to your surroundings is to play indoor games in the student lounge or run around enjoying with your friends on the lawn outside. Alternately you could spend time in group studies.

Spend your free time going through bulletins in the campus. Here you will be surprised to find a host of information including anything ranging from part time employment opportunities to campus club memberships. You can find bulletin boards in highly crowded areas such as cafeterias and recreation areas.

It is important choosing a US university depending on your personal interests. For instance, if you are the highly sociable type, you must choose your college close to urban cities that offer exciting social life opportunities. If you are the quiet, introspective type who just loves to sit around with friends or reading books in your free time, then you can choose a college located in serene outskirts. If you are still lost on what you can do on your weekends, your international student affairs office will be more than willing to help you choose an activity.
