  • We are well aware about the kind of problems our higher education system is facing currently. Those who know the American history are not backing away from expressing their fears regarding the current situation. It is hard to believe that the best economy in the world is struggling with so many issues and is in such a dilemma today.

Having said a lot about the problems, it is now time for people to put their heads together and look for solutions. We cannot merely go on discussing the complications that are standing in front of us. Solutions are the need of the hour. At this moment, the only realistic way of getting out of this mess is to offer professional training to students.

Even though professional training is offered now, the overall quality of it needs to be higher. Apart from improving the standard of education, we need to immediately bring down the costs associated with higher education. Earning a degree has become very expensive across our country.

Students and their families are finding it difficult to pay for educational material as well as for tuition. When the people of a country are faced with such a situation, the people sitting in the concerned departments should start believing that something has terribly gone wrong.

One of the important reasons why the cost of education is going ballistic is because most of the institutes across the country seem to be more interested in providing the students with facilities that are beyond the educational curriculum.

A lot of attention is being given to aspects like a state-of-the-art gymnasium and a playground that matches with International standards. There is no doubt that these facilities do help to improve the overall personality of the student.

However, somewhere, too much money is being spent on the maintenance of such aspects, thus making it difficult for the institutes to provide education to the students at a reasonable price. To improve the overall situation, the institutes have to sit down and workout a proper plan. The plan should first focus on the cost that is required to provide basic education to the students.

This should include the payrolls of teachers and staff members as well as cost of study material. Once this cost is worked out, the institutes should then look into the kind of extra facilities that they can offer to the students at a reasonable rate.

During the process, if an institute feels that the overall fee seems to be going beyond the average budget of students, they should take firm decisions and cut down on the number of facilities that they have on offer.

Unfortunately, most of the institutes are trying to prove how well equipped they are far as modern amenities are concerned in order to attract more students. In the process of showcasing their domination, they are forgetting the main purpose of graduating maximum numbers of students every year.
