  • On Tuesday, voters across the country re-elected Barrack Obama as the President once again. During his tenure, Obama gained a lot of popularity for stressing on the expansion of federal aid for students. At the same time, the Obama administration was not too lenient on universities and colleges that were not following the regulations as far as tuition fee was concerned.

The situation is rather edgy across the nation. We are already under the shadow of an economic recession. In such a scenario, higher education is an aspect that can play a vital role to reform the economy in years to come.

During the election campaign, the Obama administration did focus a lot on the fact that students have to pay heavy debts with the rising cost of higher education in the country. The administration stated that this is a major issue at the moment and hence has to be restored as early as possible. The campaign also had the issue of unemployment on their agenda.

Due to economic recession, many graduates are not being able to get themselves jobs. This kind of a scenario is leading to tremendous amount of frustration amongst these youngsters. This is having its impact on other national issues. The crime rate is on a rise and unfortunately a number of youngsters are taking active part in illegal activities to fill their pockets.

Obama administration is already working on a plan that will eventually be a lot more generous on students have taken a loan for the purpose of higher education. The plan will ensure that the students are not under the pressure of paying heavy installments. This will further encourage more students to take up higher education. Due to massive installments, many students backed away from pursuing education in the past couple of years.

Mr. Obama also stated that a lot of emphasis is going to be given to increasing the amount of funds for universities and colleges. This is one of the best ways of reducing the tuition cost for students. He stressed a lot on the point that the Pell Grants will be increased in order to reform the state of higher education across the country.

Obama also added that Community colleges are going to play a very vital role in the coming years in order to recover the economic state in the country. At the moment, the economy does not look to be stable. The ultimate goal of the administration is to train more than 2 million people and turn them into workers with the help of community colleges.

Educational experts and key members also stated that they expect Obama to carry on with the good work that he and his administration has been doing in the field of higher education. With the people of the nation showing tremendous faith in Obama for the second time in succession, one can assume that things are going to turn better from here.
