  • The American Public colleges and universities are changing rapidly. For instance, Indiana University had around 85 foreign undergraduates back in 2007. Today, it has more than 2000 foreign students.
According to recent data, there has been a 6 percent growth in the number of foreign students that universities have been enrolling. Most of the foreign students belong to China.

As per the data, as many as 23 percent of the total foreign students are Chinese Nationals. What is staggering is to observe that most of the colleges that have been showing keen interest in enrolling foreign students are the ones that are funded by the Public of the country.

Traditionally, American universities have not been known to encourage a lot of foreign students. However, the last five years have been a real transformation. The data states that foreign student enrollment has increased by a whooping 40 percent since 2007.

The data has been published by Institute of International Education. At this moment, about 15 percent of the total students belong to foreign countries. Universities of Minnesota and University of South California are leading the way and home maximum numbers of foreign students.

According to educational administrators, most of the universities have now started valuing the Global Vibe. Today, the concept of Globalization is playing a very vital role. Due to advanced commercialization and growing corporate world, economies across the globe have come close to each other.

However, this is not the only reason why universities across the country are giving top priority to foreign students. The prime reason is the fact that these students are ready to pay a heavy tuition fee. They are also not subject to any kind of financial aid as they do not originally belong to America.

Many of the Public Universities across the country are facing a tough time as far as financial aid is concerned. By enrolling large number of foreign students, these universities are able to collect heave amount as tuition fee. In order to encourage the domestic students to do well, the universities are using this amount to offer financial aid to them.

As per the data of 2011, there were as many as 765,000 foreign students all over the country, enrolled in different universities. China was leading the list with India closely following it. Saudi Arabia and South Korea were not too behind as well.

When compared to domestic students, foreign ones are charged more per year. Hence, these students contribute to the over economy on a larger scale as per the data. Here is absolutely no doubt that international students do bring in a lot of revenue.

However, on the other side of the table, they also increase the cost of the universities. In order to attract more international students, universities have to be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. After all, the international students should be convinced that the amount they pay as tuition fee is worth the facilities that they get.
