  • Most of the students across the nation seem to be in a very happy frame of mind. This is mainly due to the fact that the tuition fees have been frozen by a number of colleges and universities. What is even more heartening to see is that this has taken place for the second time in the succession.

Ohio has been amongst the top initiators for this latest trend. The Urbana University of Ohio recently announced that it will be freezing the tuition fee for the 2013-2014 academic year as well, leaving many students and their families pleasantly surprised. Having got to know about this announcement, a number of other colleges and universities from Ohio as well as other parts of the nation have decided to follow the trend as well.

The past few weeks have seen many different educational administrators come forward and express their concern regarding the higher education scenario in the country. There is absolutely no doubt that the situation has not been the best. For a country like America, which is known for its economic status, having a poor education system is certainly not going to benefit the overall scenario in the longer run.

Unfortunately, the last few years have seen a drastic rise in the tuition fees of different colleges and universities. This has affected the future of many potential students. In order to cope up with the rising fees, majority of the students and their families are taking educational loans.

However, due to the economic crisis hitting the country hard, jobs are not easy to get as they were a few years back. Hence, students and their families are left with no other option but to not repay the educational loan within the allotted time, leaving them with more worries.

By freezing the tuition fees, students and their families will be in a better position to plan their finances. Students will know the exact amount before they decide to be a part of a particular college. This way, their family can probably start accumulating the fee amount well in advance. This will eventually reduce the number of students who rely on an education loan to fulfill their dreams.

Fortunately for students, this is not the only initiative that seems to be making the headlines. With Obama being elected for a second time in succession, insiders reveal that there are plenty of positive steps yet to be taken when it comes to higher education situation in the country. If these insiders are to be believed, these steps will be taken in the near future.

It is speculated that a number of colleges and universities might even decide to cut down on the tuition fees they charge. This is mainly because the Obama administration is looking to supply more public funds to colleges, thus making them rely lesser on the fees that potential students pay.  This is certainly a very encouraging sign. Hope the trend continues and our higher education sees better days ahead.
