  • Companies and corporates will have to work hand-in-hand with the universities if the American economy has to improve, a recent study has stated. According to the report, not enough numbers of graduates are ready to implement the right work strategies and hence the rate of unemployment is on a rise, despite the fact that the necessary degree and qualification is available.

This is not great news for the overall economy of our country. The report reveals that only half of the graduates are good enough to get a job in companies. This clearly indicates that the skill level is lacking. In order to grab a job, one has to be equipped with certain skills apart from a degree under his/her belt.

It is very much possible that universities are not able to convey or develop these skills amongst their students. Hence it is important that companies work closely with universities to develop the necessary job skills amongst future employees.

On the other hand, universities across our nation have denied that only half of the graduates are good enough to acquire a job in companies. According to them, more than 3/4th of the total numbers of graduating students are eligible for jobs. This again leads us to the million dollar question. Why is the rate of unemployment increasing in our country if our graduates are good enough to grab work opportunities?

The report also throws light on the economic crisis in Europe. The crisis is huge and has had its impact on the global economy. Hence, companies are now keen on hiring employees who are worth the pay package offered to them.

They are in no mood to hire people who are not equipped with the necessary skills. This is one of the prime reasons why many youngsters across the country are without a job eventhough they have a degree under their belt.

This has not only led to increase in unemployment, but has given rise to another issue. Most of the students and their families across our nation now believe that spending on higher education is of no use as many people are anyways ending up without a job. This has led to a drastic decrease in the number of students enrolling for higher education.

If we look at the last 5 years, the enrollment number has come down alarmingly, which is certainly not a good sign for the country and its development. We are all caught in a classic vicious cycle. Looking at the current situation, there is absolutely no doubt that the companies and universities will have to work together. With further decrease in higher education enrollment, the situation will only get worse.

The last thing America wants is for its people to lose faith in the higher education system. Unfortunately, if things continue the way they are at the moment, this scenario will rise very soon.
With companies giving key inputs, budding graduates can be molded in certain ways and they can be trained well before hand.
