  • The new college graduates hiring rate is predicted to fall by 22 per cent for the class of 2009. The fall in hiring rates was expected to be relatively flat. Employers had looked forward to keeping it even with that of the last year. But this new prediction is changing the entire scenario for young aspirants.

Allow The Recession To Kindle Your Spirit

Now the question is how should you respond? The natural instinct is to move along the current and become an obscure entity in the market. But why should everyone be just the same? Some of us need to get up and get going - because just that’s what we must do. Remember that everyone is destined to succeed – and some do so particularly during the dark times.

A popular question that the class of 2009 is pondering over is what should be done to get a decent start? Well, the answer is take advantage of the present situation. As outrageous as it sounds, this could be good time for a decent start and an even better ending. Tough times require tough people. So are you ready for the game?

    Being The Employer’s Choice

First get a good resume. Go the extra mile of customizing your resume to meet employer specifications. But remember, there is more to a job than a good resume. And it is the good old attitude quotient. It is about how you view yourself, your job and everything else around you. Apart from your qualifications, intelligence and skills set, it is your attitude that will make you the employer’s choice.

It is good to be focused even when jobs are few. Be sure of your worth and tell the employer how you can add value to the company.  Equip yourself with extra knowledge and skills sets well ahead of time. Remember that honesty, integrity and hard work will always lead you to success despite the economic, political or social ill-weather.
