  • Education is extremely important. It is the stepping stone towards success. Students who enroll themselves for a degree course are more or less secured about their professional future. Ideally, they should complete their course and grab a job in the relevant field. However, in the past few years, the number of degree holders not finding jobs is increasing alarmingly.

So why is this reality soon turning into a trend? Does the nation not have enough jobs to offer? For thousands of people across the country, they have already believed that lack of employment is the prime reason why many degree holders are ending up working at food joints. Is this really a fact or is there something more to the story?

What is important to know is whether the degree holders are actually ready for a job. It is not the degree that does the job, it is the person who holds the degree. According to top level managers and other management members, a number of students graduating from colleges are not good enough to get jobs. They are not competent enough. They lack the basic skills that need to be displayed in a work area.

Colleges, or rather most of them, seem to be giving too much importance at producing degree holders. However, are they actually trying to produce employees? A number of Corporate Management members have a serious doubt. According to them, majority of the fresh degree holders that approach them for jobs lack the basic communication skills.

This is probably the least that one can expect from an individual who has just graduated in a professional degree course. However, for some reason, they seem to be extremely poor at communication. Unfortunately, most of them are below average and hence cannot be improved upon with the help of training as well.

The other quality that is missing in most of the degree holders is the ability to solve complex problems. They just don’t seem to have the set of skills required to tackle a particular situation. For instance – a person applying for the vacancy of Marketing team Leader does not have enough ideas as to how he/she plans to motivate the team and its members, especially in a scenario where it is not doing well.

Most of the Corporate Companies and their Management Members feel that the quality of practical education has depleted in Colleges. It is important for students to be handed over certain tough tasks according to the nature of their degree program. They should be provided with skills that are required to not only survive in professional industry, but to grow as well.

Majority of the Companies look at the candidate and see whether he/she can actually help in the overall growth. Unfortunately, there are not too many degree holders as of now who have that kind of spark. Majority of the students need to be involved in Personality Development Programs.
