  • Description:
  • Graduate students have the opportunity to participate in one of over sixty faculty research laboratories; many of the faculty are world-renowned and leaders in their fields.

    Areas of research include: biochemistry and biophysics, bioinformatics, bioengineering, cancer biology, cell biology, developmental biology, human genetics, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular medicine and human disease, neurobiology, plant molecular biology, structural biology, systems biology, and virology.

  • Admission Information:
  • It is highly recommended that applicants submit their applications and all supporting material including references and transcripts in advance of the deadline, December 1. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Applicants will be contacted in early February.

    The average undergraduate GPA for admitted students is 3.62, and the average GRE's are:
    Verbal (650; 88%),
    Quantitative (738; 87%), and
    Analytical (735; 90%).
    TOEFL (required minimum 600) for international applicants.

  • Financial Aids:
  • All graduate students receive a full-tuition grant and 12-month stipend, ($29,000 in 2008-09) which permits comfortable living in the Cambridge/Boston area.

    Applicants are also encouraged to apply for graduate fellowships from organizations such as the National Insitutes of Health; the National Science Foundation; and the Office of Naval Research.
