  • Description:
  • The Department trains practitioners in planning and development and prepares scholars for advanced research and teaching. The Master in City Planning (MCP) program is the largest degree program at DUSP, accepting 55-60 new students each fall. Under special circumstances, admission may be granted to candidates seeking a one-year Master of Science (S.M.) degree. Approximately 12 PhD candidates join the Department each year.

    A resume or CV mailed directly to the Department
    Three letters of recommendation from teachers, professionals, and/or others who know the applicant's work
    A non-refundable application fee of $75

  • Financial Aids:
  • The Department of Urban Studies and Planning offers financial assistance to approximately 60 percent of Master's students and 50 percent of doctoral students. Except in certain instances, this assistance does not cover the full cost of tuition and living expenses at MIT. To facilitate a student's search for financial aid, DUSP maintains an updated list of external fellowship opportunities, both domestic and international.
