Here is a snapshot of how to handle an argument essay:

1st Paragraph:
1. Demonstrate that the argument is understood
2. List weaknesses. Most fall into these 2 categories: Fails to validate assumptions, uses poorly defined terms.
3. Mention what could be done to solidify the argument.

2nd Paragraph:
1. Detail assumptions upon which the Argument hinges
2. Describe what would be required to validate these assumptions
(consider expert testimony, empirical research, and real-life examples)
3. List gaps between existing evidence and what is necessary

3rd Paragraph:
1. Discuss poorly defined terms. What could they mean? How would these different meanings affect the Argument?

Closing Paragraph:
- Discuss what could strengthen the Argument
- Summarize the essay.
