  • Arizona State University Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Mathis Group Knowledge Enterprise: Biodesign Institute: Biodesign Center for Biocomputing, Security and Society Tempe Campus Open Date: Oct 06, 2025 Job Description The Mathis Group at Arizona State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar to join an international collaboration funded by the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP). The project brings together researchers at ASU, the Max Planck Institute (MPI) in Marburg, Germany, and the Earth-Life Science Institute (ELSI) in Tokyo, Japan to investigate the chemical and physical foundations of life’s origins. The scholar will develop and analyze numerical models of chemical reaction networks, compare computational results to experimental data from collaborators, and play a key role in interpreting and facilitating collaboration between ASU, MPI Marburg, and ELSI Tokyo. Essential Duties Develop, implement, and analyze computational models of chemical reaction networks Compare and integrate computational results with experimental data Collaborate closely with international partners and facilitate cross-site communication Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences Contribute to mentoring and training of students in the group Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. (within the past five years) in Physics, Chemistry, Systems Biology, Computer Science, or related field Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in numerical simulation, high-performance computing, or modeling of complex systems Experience with Bayesian inference, dynamical systems, or differentiable programming (Julia preferred) Familiarity with analytical chemical data analysis (e.g., NMR, mass spectrometry) Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment Application Instructions Only electronic submissions will be reviewed.
