  • Abaci Lab at The Columbia University Medical Center, Department of Dermatology and Biomedical Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist interested in working on bioengineered 3D tissue models and tissue grafts. The tissue types include but not limited to the skin, vasculature, cornea and bladder. This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant, diverse, and collaborative team of basic and translational investigators. A competitive candidate would have prior experience on 2D/3D cell culture, 3D-(bio)printing, biomaterials, standard biochemistry assays, histology and immunofluorescence microscopy, and have a strong track record of publications. Qualifications: • PhD degree in bioengineering, biology or a related field. • Experience in a research laboratory with primary human cells and/or pluripotent stem cells, and 3D tissue models. • Experience in CAD Modeling, 3D-bioprinting and/or biomaterials. • Setting up, maintaining, and efficiently operating cost-effective laboratory operations. • Knowledge in development proof of concept studies using innovative technologies Other Skills & Abilities: • Passion for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine • Demonstrated ability to present data in national and international conferences • Strong written and oral communication skills • Good organizational skills and detail-oriented • Ability to work independently and in a team environment Roles and Responsibilities: • Generating 3D skin, cornea and vascular models using hydrogels (e.g., collagen) and primary or iPSC-derived cells. • Designing and performing in vivo wound healing experiments in mice and/or pigs • Analyses, interpretation, presentation and publication of the data • Assist with grant writing Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran Pay Transparency Disclosure The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
