    The School of Art at Ball State University welcomes applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor of Art (Digital Media) to begin August, 2019.

    Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate studio art courses in the School of Art’s Digital and Time Based Art curriculum, foundation level digital media courses, and specialty courses that expand curriculum with an emphasis on interactivity across Intermedia, Sculpture, Visual Communications, and Animation, as needed.

    The School of Art at Ball State has forty-nine full-time faculty and offers state-of-the-art facilities serving almost 600 undergraduate majors as well as a growing graduate program. Programs at the BA, BS, BFA and MFA levels include animation, art education, art history, ceramics, drawing, glass, graphic arts management, metals, painting, photography and intermedia arts, printmaking, sculpture, and visual communication (graphic design).

    Housed in the Art and Journalism building, School of Art students enjoy over 57,000 square feet of world-class facilities, a nationally ranked animation program, the Atrium Gallery, and the Glick Center for Glass. Students and faculty work closely with David Owsley Museum of Art on campus, among the finest university art collections in the nation.

    Ball State University is accredited by the National Association for Schools of Art and Design.

    Description
    The School of Art at Ball State University welcomes applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August of 2019.

    The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate studio art courses in the School of Art’s Digital and Time Based Art curriculum, foundation level digital media courses, and specialty courses that expand curriculum with an emphasis on interactivity across Intermedia, Sculpture, Visual Communications, and Animation, as needed.

    A commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduates is essential. Advising and service to the School of Art and university is expected and significant creative/scholarly productivity will be necessary to achieve tenure.

    Minimum Qualifications
    MFA from an accredited institution in Intermedia Arts, Time Based Media, Film/Video, Media Art or similar appropriate concentration, completed by date of appointment.

    At least one year of part-time or full-time undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching experience at the university level, gained concurrently or at any time.

    Studio practice and teaching that demonstrate skill in any combination of the following: experimental and hybrid applications of digital and electronic time based media art, interactive media, creative coding, physical computing, web based art, sound art, video installation, experimental moving image, augmented/virtual reality, 3-D modeling or digital fabrication, demonstrated through portfolio examples.

    At least one year of Apple platform expertise and experience with the Adobe Creative Suite.

    Authorization to work in the US Employer will consider sponsorship.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Two years of teaching experience beyond graduate school.

    Significant record of exhibitions and professional accomplishments.

    Broad knowledge of the history and theory of media art with an emphasis on contemporary art practices and discourse.
