ISU programs prepare teachers for urban schools

student-led organization at Illinois State University hopes to change the way education is taught for urban schools, thereby having a greater impact on issues such as high dropout rates.

"Our nation's cities need good teachers," said Dakota Pawlicki, 23, director and founding member of Urban Needs in Teacher Education, or UNITE. The organization began with the help of ISU's Chicago Teacher Education Pipeline, whose aim is to increase recruitment and improve retention in urban schools.
