U. of Florida debates flat-fee tuition

The University of Florida is thinking about switching to a flat tuition fee, rather than charging by the credit hour, to encourage students to graduate more quickly, according to the Miami Herald.

The pricing structure is the norm at many private schools, and a few public schools have also adopted it, including the University of Texas at Austin and the University of California at Los Angeles. In Florida, the fee would be set assuming that students take 15 credit hours -- so students who take 18....
