U.of I. saves $19M through staff reductions

Hundreds of employees have left the University of Illinois under incentive programs, and the reduction will save about $19 million a year.
That's according to Mike Andrechak, who is the university's associate provost for budgets and resource planning.
The voluntary faculty and staff reduction programs went into effect in 2010.
The Champaign News-Gazette reports that some 483 employees have left through incentives, and the last group, 70 professors, will leave by Aug. 15.
