    New York State Law:

In accordance with New York State law, any student born on or after January 1, 1957, must submit proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. Students will not be allowed to register for classes until this documentation is on file in the Health and Insurance Services Office.

Legislation also now requires all students, regardless of age, to make an informed decision regarding the meningitis vaccine. Each student must be aware of the risks of the disease, a potentially fatal bacterial infection, as well as the availability of a vaccine to help protect them. Daemen College is required to maintain a record of the following for each student:

    • a record of meningococcal meningitis immunization within the past 10 years OR

    • an acknowledgment of meningococcal meningitis disease risks and refusal of meningococcal meningitis immunization signed by the student or student's parent or guardian.
