The Academic Support Services Office is located in the Paul Adrian Powell III Resource Center, along with the offices of Counseling Services and Career Services. Academic support is available to all Emory & Henry students at no charge. Services include:

    • Meeting with the Director of Academic Support Services for academic counseling. This may include individual help from the Director concerning time management, organization skills, note taking skills, text reading skills, memory and study skills, preparation for tests, test anxiety, concentration, or other areas of academic concern. Students may want to learn how to access tutoring and/or Supplemental Instructor (SI) services already established or may need to request tutorial services for a particular course. Students may need information about the dates of workshops for skill development, want to register for workshops, or request workshops on additional topics. Students with disabilities may need to meet with the Director to implement accommodation plans or maintain such plans if accommodations are already in place. Students may want to meet with the Director to request referrals for testing to see if disabilities exist.

    • Upperclassman Mentor: First-year students on academic warning or academically at risk are provided upperclassmen mentors for the spring semester.

    • Disability Services: Students with documented disabilities are encouraged to register with Academic Support Services and request accommodations. See Disability Services.

    • Skill Development Workshops: These workshops will be provided weeks 2, 3, and 4 through Academic Support Services to help students with basic note taking, reading, and study techniques. Other workshops will be provided throughout the semester as determined by interest and need.

    • Peer Tutoring: Supplemental Instructors, Tutors, Writing Center Assistants, and Quantitative Literacy Center assistants are available in specified places and times Sunday through Thursday nights.
