  • Welcome

The Florida College Advising Office provides services to students seeking assistance with:

    • Achieving academic goals
    • Adjusting to college life
    • Identifying aptitudes and life interests
    • Choosing possible majors and career paths
    • Becoming more self-motivated, self-directed, and self-sufficient
    • Feeling satisfied and successful as a college student

    What to Expect

    It’s all pretty simple.

To see an advisor, you need to schedule an appointment in advance. See Appointments for the necessary contact info.

Appointments are usually made on the hour.

A consultation lasts for about 45 minutes. Initial consultations may last up to an hour. Be sure to leave enough time for that.

At your first consultation, you and your advisor will get acquainted, discuss what your questions or concerns are, and develop a simple plan with goals to address your needs.

If you and your advisor agree that follow-up meetings are a good idea, then you will meet regularly (maybe a couple of times a month) to work on specific goals set up in your first consultation.

Your advisor may also recommend that you get involved with other services on campus, such as College Success; the math, English, or music labs; supplemental instruction (SI); or workshops.
