  • The George T. and Gladys H. Abell Library Center Opened in 1986, the Abell Library Center plays an essential role in the life of Austin College. Five librarians, an archivist, and six support staff guide the effective use of library resources. Services include an active instruction program with a special emphasis for incoming students as well as increased support for honors' students engaged in writing a thesis. A reference librarian is available most day and evening hours. A tour of the library shows off our varied learning spaces. Classroom faculty and librarians carefully selected over 200,000 volumes, more than 4,000 media items, and subscriptions to several thousand print and electronic periodicals to support the academic programs and intellectual interests of the College community. Cooperative arrangements with other libraries provide circulation privileges and expedited interlibrary borrowing that supplements library holdings.
