  • THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS ON-CAMPUS HOUSING IS THROUGH OUR DOOR! The Housing area is responsible for several aspects that have an impact on our resident student population. This area of the Department of Housing & Residence Life is comprised of three sections: Housing Assignments, Safety & Security, and Technology Support. This area is also tasked with the oversight for summer camps and conferences at Appalachian State University, in conjunction with the Office of Conferences & Institutes. Specific responsibilities of each section are detailed below: Housing Assignments: The mission of the Housing Assignments office is to provide housing for as many students as possible who wish to live on-campus. Demand for on-campus housing at Appalachian State University is very high, which keeps the Housing Assignments staff very busy! All new incoming freshmen are guaranteed housing for their first year (or semester, if entering during spring semester). Returning students wishing to live on-campus must reapply for housing for the next academic year during the Housing Reapplication period that occurs each spring. Returning students are housed in the space left over after new incoming freshmen spaces are allotted.
