Goals


At the conclusion of the final project, students should master the following goals:

  • Research initiative to propose an innovative project.
  • Ability to carry out project's goals, produce deliverables.
  • Write-up goals, approach, and findings in conference format.
  • Present your project to your peers in conference setting.


Project Proposal




Possible Projects


You should provide a 1 to 2 page project proposal. Your project should be either:

  1. The implementation of a computational biology algorithm found in the literature along with its analysis on some data set.
  2. The description and analysis of a novel computational biology algorithm.
  3. The careful analysis including criticism, corrections, or improvements of a conference or journal article.


Requirements


Your proposal should include:

  1. Your partner, if you are working with one. At most two people can work on each project. If you are working with a partner, a division of labor should be indicated.
  2. Citations to one or more papers related to your proposal.
  3. What you specifically hope to accomplish.
  4. Milestones for the completion of subtasks.


Grading


Projects will be graded on the basis of the level of challenge, creativity and feasibility.
